    Default Foggy Morning Barn Owl

Had an absolute blast shooting these guys last year. Several Barn Owls were hunting in a large field near the coast. They would perch in trees at the edge of the field and then hunt for about an hour in the early morning. I was with a group of other photographers and decided to go off on my own. A few minutes into my solo adventure, this barn owl flew in an began hovering above an area about 100 feet away from me. It dove and disappeared into the tall grasses. I created this image right after it emerged empty-handed. I was lucky to get the eye contact that I did.

    Handheld. Not baited.

Nice facial detail and well exposed against a beautiful soft background. I like the patches of in-focus grasses. Well done Aiden!

Well captured Aidan with ideal wing position and head turn. The Background and forground are most complimentary - well done!

The thumbnail doesn't do this image justice.
I love the owl's wing spread and the dangling feet.
Great color palette and the grasses in the right FG are lovely. The green at the top of the frame gives it a nice punch of color.
Would love this one is my files,
    Gail

Excellent image Aidan! I like the lighting, wing position, dangling feet, setting, eye contact and BG. I bet you are glad you wandered off on your own.

Pose, habitat, and soft light come together to help produce one fine image.

The thumbnail fooled me. What an pleasing image you have created here, esp with the wispy vegetation in the FG.
