Here is another exciting moment captured above a Black Skimmer nesting colony. When the winds are right, the skirmishes and chases happen often, but they aren't easy to capture b/c the action happens so quickly and the birds move so fast. I had numerous frames minus wings and birds!

If you have a chance, I would appreciate your opinions as to which image you prefer between this one and my last thread: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...-Aerial-Battle! They actually couldn't be more different, so it's difficult for me to decide which is stronger.

Critiques and comments always welcomed and much appreciated.

Hey Marina. Great execution on this one, it is technically perfect. To me, your previous image is way better. The poses are more dynamic, the lighting softer and warmer, and the BG more interesting. That one is probably the best skimmer battle image I've ever seen!

Nice action shot, Marina! If I had to choose I'd go for the previous shot because of more detail and nicer lighting. Also, I like that we see the previous birds from the 'front', if you know what I mean. It makes them look more vulnerable.

That does not imply that this is not a keeper - still a nice shot!

The moment well captured Marina - heaps of action and the diagonal placement of the birds make for a very pleasing composition.

I think this is a terrific image- tack sharp, great action but I prefer the first image.
Nicer light and warmer colors and more " in your face" kind of action with the first.
Both images are super but #1 gets my vote,

As far as aesthetics go they are pretty close even with the different light and WB (with this one, being less "bright" perhaps being a bit smoother on the eyes)...but the interaction much stronger on the other image. Both of them wish I had in my files....

Excellent image Marina! If I had to pick I would choose your previous post but they both are top quality. I would like to see this kind of interaction one day.

Fantastic work Marina, as always. Agree that the other image was slightly stronger, but this is still very very nice!

Love the rich blacks and action here....I can't see where one image has it over the other...both are really really good. I like the suggestion of clouds in the bg on this one too.
