    Default Wilson's Snipe & Reflection.

Probably the "busiest" setting I've presented, that is where the Wilson's Snipe lives lots of the time! I was fortunate that it chose a small opening in the dried marsh vegetation to rest for a while. Photographed from my car.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, full frame, a few brighter highlights toned down via burn tool, eliminated cyan cast on subject, darkened pupil, NR to BG.

The busy setting doesn't bug me as you have isolated the bird well. It is also really telling of the snipes habitat. Love the vertical comp with the reflection. I think a little more contrast in the facial area would really help make the bird pop a bit more.

    Technically perfect as usual.

Well done Daniel, you were very fortunate to get a clear shot of this rather secreative bird. I've been very frustrated in my attempts to photograph a snipe.

Daniel BG is not a problem for me in fact it almost frames the bird and that's where they spend most of there time, the detail on the bird is excellent as is the reflection, great piece of work.

    Cheers Keith.

Agree it is a busy BG but this is where these guys live so I am fine with it.
The snipe is well seen and separated from the BG.
I like the reflection and the fact this is full frame!

For me, the BG is an important part of a shot like this, and this is where they live. Getting the bird in the 'window' of the reeds is great, and having such still water for the reflection is an added bonus

Beautiful capture, Daniel. This is home, and couldn't have been a better setting. The autumn light and dried reed colors accent the Snipe perfectly. Well done.

Interesting image of a very elusive bird. Great composition, color and detail. Everything came together to show this bird off at it's best. Thank you for sharing.

I like the IQ, reflection, setting, HA, composition and water drop at the end of the beak. Excellent image Daniel.

Beautiful shot with great blur and lovley subject. It could have been very busy, but I really think it works really well.

Wow, a fairly different type of image in terms of departure from the majority of your work. Next level? The image works really well in every regard I can think of....I think this makes you a sniper :)
