    Default Theme - Almost Halloween

This was taken on Wednesday in the yard of Repurpose (a building recycling business) of a partial pedestal. The original (which I like better I think but is definitely more abstract) is upside down, i.e. the head is on the bottom and the pedestal is on the top. It looked like it had been a prop or a column made of some kind of fiberglass (you can see the fiberglass fraying on the bottom edge). The only thing I did is add just a hint of poster edge in PS and levels adjustment.I thought it was appropriate for the Halloween season. I liked her so much that I considered buying her but didn't have room in my car. Actually, I'll be in town tomorrow and if she's there and she's cheap I think I'll buy her. I especially like her frayed edges and blue eye

I like this -- the image and the real thing. For the image, at least, the fraying adds to its character. The blue and brown definitely works. It would be interesting to know its origin.

I like the blue eye too, as well as subtle blues and browns, and the lines and cracks in her face. Very compelling.

I really like this Cheryl, and your processing is great. The poster edges gave the textures a great boost. The eyes give it another-world feel.

    Cheryl,

Greetings. I like the Halloween reference that fits the image well. The texture is captivating. Thanks for posting.

Going against the grain, love everything about it but the blue eye, it seems to bring my focus to the eye, and not the face. So I brought your photo into CS5 and first removed the blue eye, then colored the brown eye blue, realizing then that the single blue eye works best.

So I guess down deep, I really did agree with everyone else. TFS

Cheryl, I like this a lot. Your judicious use of poster edge manages the cracks nicely. The asymmetry of the mouth gives her an element of personality. I also like the blue eye.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm now the proud owner of "Phyllis" - she's residing in my garden. Evidently a woman found her in a dumpster and took her to Repurpose. They think she came from an upscale hair salon but why they threw her away is not part of the story. She's missing the eye but I definitely like the eye so now I'm on a hunt for a small turquoise marble The owner of Repurpose had become attached to her (I think he probably named her Phyllis) and was reluctant to let her go but he relented and she's mine now.

I'm glad you have her, and I expect she's happier now that she's in your garden.
