Spent a wonderful afternoon yesterday photographing Red Kites local to me. I live in an area where there are lots of these and yesterday they were enjoying the windy conditions we currently have here in the UK.

beautiful capture, Simon. I would only suggest that you open up the underwings 1/3 stop or so, especially the top one.

Simon that is a cracker - love it and you have the variety that doesn't have wing tags all over the place! My only suggestion is to Dodge the underside of the left wing just a little bit. The head/eye are excellent, a very pleasing image.

Thanks all for the comments. I spotted the lack of wing tags as well Jonathan which was nice. Agree with the lifting of the left underwing. I had altered it post production but not enough. I'll take a look at that. Thanks again.

Great image Simon. I love these birds. The exposure looks good and the bird i nice and sharp. I agree with lightening the under wings.
I would be interested to know your shutter speed as mine was too low last time I photographed Kites.

Hi Iain, thanks for the comments. Sorry, missed the shutter speed off. It was up at 1/4000 sec, hence the slightly higher shutter speed to ensure the shutter speed and f7.1 for the DOF.

    thanks again.
