    Default night lights

    Attached Images Attached Images

This was taken during a nighttime boat ride featuring the lights of Lyon, France.

    Nikon Coolpix P7000, ISO 800, f/3.5, 1/5 sec (-1 EV exposure compensation), 13mm (35mm film equivalent is 61mm)

    processing highlights
    • Four additional exposures were made with the Exposure slider in Adobe Camera RAW for an HDR image
    • The sky was featureless except for noise. It was replaced with a horizontally flipped Photomorphis Sky/Cloud texture that had dark clouds and an orange color that nearly matched the bridge suspension column.
    • Topaz Simplify -- saved watercolor preset
    • Alien Skin Snap Art -- saved watercolor wash preset, Color blend mode, 90% opacity
    • seven black & white layers (Fractalius, Simplify edges, Snap Art Line Art) -- Multiply and Divide blend modes, various opacities, some masked
    • sparkles on the water -- black layer + Noise filter + blur + closely spaced black and white sliders in Levels, Screen blend mode, 43%, masked
    • selective additional lightening of portions of the river with Curves layers and luminosity masks
    • The right, bottom and corner fields started with the same texture (unflipped) that was used for the sky. Further changes to the right and bottom were made with orange and green rectangles using Exclusion and Multiply blend modes. A Flypaper Textures texture was applied to the side, bottom, and corner fields (Hard Light, 19%).

    Dennis,

Greetings. The framing is a nice touch pulling color and texture from the image. I really like the color on the water. Slight cw rotation? Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

Nice work, love the framing, also like how the suspension bridge wires emanate from the light in the sky. Well done

Dennis, you sure got some good shots from your France trip! The framing really makes this image and the lighting on the wires is so nice - it's like everything in the image radiates from them. And I love the colors in the water. Nice work.

Really pretty night scene Dennis. I really like the colours reflected in the water, and keep wishing to see more of the bridge. I like what you are doing with these cool frames.
