    Default Theme: Nautilus times 2

I photographed this Nautilus slice on a lightbox. In processing I converted the image to b&w. Added a layer of fractalius using a preset that I created called "outline". Used the PS move tool to double the image. Added a texture and used the darken blend mode at 60%. A layer of pixel bender, oil paint and topaz simplify, underpainting II.

As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I was sure I was going to like this. Doubling the image was a great idea, and the way you joined the two sets of curves on the inside of the spiral is very effective. Just that part of it held my attention for a long time. Together, the combination of the two shells (half shells???) looks very three-dimensional but in an MC Escher kind of way that is quite fascinating. Very nicely done.

Very cool! I love the composition. You could use this base image and do a hundred different variations!

    Nancy,

Greetings. I really like how the lines interweave and the color mixes. Beautiful result. I think if I were to hang this on my wall I might want a bit more room. Good show!

    Cheers,

Love the strong graphic design elements against the pastel background. Would be a beautiful design in stained glass.

Nice graphic, the thumbnail reminded me of a optical illusion. Perfect for the theme. Well done

Perfect for the theme, Nancy. I love it! It's very whimsical to me - it reminds me of elephant trunks and hot air balloons all rolled into one

Very cool, I like the colours created in the overlap and the soft colour palette. Well thought out image.

Thanks everyone! Cheryl, I loved the elephant trunks and hot air balloon description! Michael, I agree it could use some more space.
