Default Young White-throated Sparrow Foraging Among the Leaves.

Here is a typical autumn scene for sparrow admirers such as me...a sparrow foraging for seeds among the fallen leaves. It was part of a mixed flock of White-throated Sparrows, White-Crowned Sparrows, and Dark-eyed Juncos.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, about 80% FF, the large brown oof leaf near the subject's face was originally bright neon orange and thus too distracting - colour changed via "Selective Color".

Great colors here. The Sparrow fits nicely into the frame, with nice sharpness. I might consider removing the grass merging the tail feather.

We dont get these beautiful sparrows in my are although we get lots of White-Crowns. Love the feather pattern on the breast and that splash of yellow on the brow adds allot to the frame. Nice techs and details too.
    Well done Daniel.

I like birds captured on the ground especially if it is nice and colorful. Great details in the feathers and nice eye contact, Daniel.

Lovely shot Dan, I feel as if I am right there with the bird. It is critically sharp, amazing detail. I wish we had a few sparrows as colourful as yours!

It's funny because the first time I looked at this image I thought...well he got lucky that he did not have brightly colored leaves in the scene.... :) Well...maybe not lucky. Beautiful image, image design, and love the look of these hatch year birds. Their little chevrons remind me of fox sparrows...kinda wish the adults had those in breeding plumage. I like the food bits on the bill as evidence of foraging.
