This female has become affectionately known on this forum as Dumay's Lioness. She is a old girl around 12-14 years old, a good life for a wild Lioness. We found her about 5-6 weeks ago with 1 new cub about a week old at the time. We have not viewed the cub since as it is a sensitive sighting so no viewing of the cub till at least 6 weeks old and only a single vehicle in the sighting at a time. As of when I last saw her about 10 days ago her suckle marks were still visible so the good news is the cub is still around. She was watching a herd of browsing Kudu at the time of this image.

    Thanks for looking

Dumay, I love the beautiful subtle colours, the almost 3D portrait and the awesome BG. Nice and sharp where it matters and nice composition. TFS. Great Shot!

Hi Dumay, I wonder where that name came from, LOL, she was the one we were all shooting when we invited you over that morning.

Lovely expression, great detail and I love the BKG which compliments/tones in with her colour too. Clean, simple, a very nice portrait, but I feel you could lose some off the LHS, it seems a tad more than required to look into for me . I assume the cub its not her's as she was playing hard to get when we were with both her & the male?

Hi Dumay - Glad to see your lioness doing well and very happy to hear she successfully mated. I'm guessing from the gestational period that she mated shortly after we saw her in early June. Very nice clarity and detail with complementary winter tones to the bg. Comp works for me but I tend to like more negative space than Steve does.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Dumay, lovely details and sharpness in good light. I'm with Steve here regarding losing a little bit on the LHS. Loi

Thanks folks...I must say I like the space as it is...But I suppose it comes down to people's preference's.

Super lioness portrait with lovely bg to go with the detailed subject. Nice focused concentration captured here too

Love that floppy ear look. Nice tones and soft light here Dumay - I am fine with the comp/space as presented.
Looking forward to some images with cub soon!
