I was fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph a family of nesting Great Horned Owls in Idaho this summer. The adults spent much of the day sleeping in a wooded area accross the road from the nest site. One of the young owls was calling and mamma was answering from her perch in the woods. Her call allowed me to locate and photograph her as she was responding to her baby.

Wow she looks great, and what a gnarly perch! The calling pose looks good. These guys are very pale in that neck of the woods, pretty cool. Of course there just had to be a leaf touching the head - perhaps just removing the one leaf part would work well.

Agreed....wonderful pose and the perch/BG really makes her pop out of the image. Beautiful.

Three hoots for this one. Great environmental shot with a nice calling pose. Nice detail with touch of color in the eyes and mouth.
