Taken from garden hide, tripod head mounted on shelf, Canon 1DX Canon 500mm f4 Auto ISO 2000, 1/2500 sec f8 manual focus.
I focused on the feeder then set the lens to manual focus, I connected a remote release. I watch the birds fly from the adjacent hedge and then fire the shutter. I usually get one or two images each flight but the problem is the birds take a slightly different approach route each flight, so the number of images truly in focus are rather few -(dozens of "nearly shots!!)
All C&C welcome

Nice one Jonathan, great capture of this difficult bird in flight, maybe a landscape with a little more room on the right for the bird to fly into. Well done
Good prep work.
I like the BG and the curled feet. I would like this as a square crop ( I know not a popular crop but it could work here) with more room on RHS.
Nice image,
Gail
