    Water Beetle
    Done in specially made tank so (C) !!!

    Acilius sulcatus. Quite a small diving beetle like a small version of the big Dytiscus

    Small slave flash on top of tank and hand held secondary one to left
    60th second
    ISO 200
    F11
    two stacked images - processed czm
    70% of full frame. Not much else done.

    Good detail and well focused, just a little too saturated for my taste but a good image.
    There appears to be a pale area by the spike on the right leg is it an area of glass with no algae or something like that??

    Beautiful detail! Maybe a little lightening would have the effect of lowering the saturation a bit. Maybe just mask it to the bug -- the BG is lovely!

    Hi John. A nice sharp image and I like the diagonal comp. Of the two versions, I prefer the original with the richer colors. I might wish that the bright area of the background above the left leg wasn't there as it tends to draw my eye. Other than that, this is a very strong image!
