    Default Windy Day Great Blue Heron.

    The reeds were out of the frame when the wind died down, but when it gusted back up they re-appeared as you see them here, bending and "flaming" around the heron. I thought it looked neat. In hindsight it would have been pretty cool to give it a much slower SS for a sharp heron with blurred reeds!

    Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld from car, full frame.

    Other than, whatever I'm seeing on the Heron's shoulder, the image clicks for me, Nicely done .. I like it!

    Thank you Bill! What you are seeing on the shoulder is a normal part of the GBH's plumage

    Those grass blades and their flow add so much to the beauty of this heron.

    Very nice! The few times I've tried something like this, I found out later that I had gotten a reed right across the eye. You got it perfect!
