This post is filled currently with peanuts, when the jays show themselves I will replace them with acorns, meanwhile the squirrel thinks its Christmas!

My, what big feet and ears you have Mr Squirrel!!"
This image is a smile maker. I really like the vertical lines and textures in this image ie the tree, the tail, the comp. Love those over sized toes!!

Hi Jonathan- I like the vertical comp and the tail running along the tree. I might prefer a bit more room below and a little less above but not a deal breaker. I would tame some of the highlights in the wood a little more and also some of the whites look a little hot.

Nice going on the vertical composition here Jonathan. Good BG bokeh too.
Suggestions above to tone down highlights resound with me also.

I am surprised but you are quite right the whites are bright, they weren't on the original file, this is due to jpeg compression.
(Maybe I should start checking the jpegs and not assume they are ok just because the master file is!)

Hi Jon, I assume this is the 1DX & 500?

Like the colour and trailing tail, but it does need the whole crop moving down to gain more space below as mentioned above. Taming the whites would be good, the compression shouldn't hurt? Always worth setting parameters on the Blacks, Whites and shadows so you don't get too close with pure blacks, whites... just my take.

Steve - yes sorry forgot to mention 1DX & 500mm f4. I agree about parameters - I used to set them a little lower, I think I will reset them. Regards compression I think Artie has mentioned a few times that if the whites are too close to 255 then by the time a web sized jpeg is produced they can be blown. I think he sets his around 235 - 240. I have also noticed that there is a difference in ACR and DPP when it comes to clipping, DPP seems to show before ACR.

Hi Jon, cannot comment on that, as I use other software to process.
