Slowly getting round to processing some of the WD images, this is from the series Rachel first posted.

With such a large pack and being spread out around the dam it was hard to keep your eyes on everything that is going on, however based on this I think they may have been practicing for Cirque du Soleil, especially the leaping dog. The water here does not convey the colour elsewhere in the dam, close to us, not very enticing!!!!

Nice action here Steve, and harsh light handled with aplomb. Took me a while to see that one leaping like an impala!
BG not ideal but you take what you get in the Lowveld...

Hi Steve. Great action on display here, the water body & habitat adds to this & super detail as usual. TFS.

Hi Steve - It was certainly tough to know where to look or point the camera. I don't think I saw one jump as high as the airborne dog in this image. It took me a second to distinguish him/her from the bg as well. Techs and all look good and it's great action captured. Yes, most of the water was just gross.

    TFS,

Hi Steve, love the intense look of the WD in the middle of the frame, and I do like the flying dust from the scurrying action. Add me in with the others on trying to 'focus' on the flying WD. You have pulled off a great shot here, considering all the action spread out, and all WD's in your DOF.

It took me awhile to figure out what the top wild dog was doing. I had to zoom in to see if he/she was coming or going.
I like the action and behavior depicted in this image but am very distracted by the "leaping back into the bush" wild dog.
If this was mine, I would go with a pano crop eliminating the top dog.
I like the water in the FG as it gives a good sense of the environment. The dust is always nice to see as it really helps give a sense of motion.

Nice action shot, Steve! That leaping dog is really trying to get out of the way of something!

If I remember correctly this was taken at the Kruger National Park - your pics are probably taken too early but are you guys aware that the park is running a census on wild dogs & cheetahs (24 sep 2014 - June 2015)? They're asking the public to send photo's taken to them. They then use body markings to ID & count them. Details here: https://www.ewt.org.za/CCP/census.html.

Cool shot Steve. I really like the "beachside" setting between the water and brush. Just needed Mr. Uncooperative to jump into the scene rather than away .

Totally agree Steve, sadly had nothing to bait him with to fly forward rather than backwards.
