Beautiful work Kester. Nice feather detail, great perch, good background, nice pose and composition. All looks good to me. Regards, Ian

Awesome image Kester! Love the HA, the feather detail, eye contact and that terrific colorful smooth BG.

This is a lovely set up.
I would go a bit brighter on the bird.
Great colors in the BG and picture perfect pose.
Since this is a setup I would remove one and/or both of the dangling mossy bits. I don't feel they add much to the image and tend to pull the eye downward and away from the bird.

I had it without the two dangling mossy bits, but it felt a bit *too perfect* if you know what I mean.

I'm personally OK with the hanging moss, but I wish it was thicker as it exited the frame rather than thinner, makes makes it look "clipped" (especially the one on the right). Fantastic BG, and a perfect pose by the subject. I like the dark moody lighting but I think you could have went a bit stronger on the fill flash (perhaps 1/2 stop more on the FEC). Still a very appealing image, really well done.

Thanks Daniel. The blues in this bird (and also the Blue Dacnis if you're familiar with it) light up oddly when you apply the normal amount of flash to it. It almost becomes neon looking, am sure there's a reason for that.

to illustrate, this shot has a bit more flash power than the OP.

Both images are super. I am good with the perch either way. Your BG is simply killer!!! I am good with the exposures as they are.
