I like the thick OP application and the pose of the bird and the tiny catchlight. Shooting from below makes them appear more regal to me. I might be tempted to put more detail back in the beak

I really like the variations in the bkgd texture & a bit of a moon! The oil paint gave this hawk somewhat of a worried look ! Enjoy you new digs at La Posada!

I like this composition--a regal (and worried) looking bird against brilliant blue, with a moon. I might reduce the texture on the sky to let the bird stand out more. I hope I'm as active as you when I turn 90. Congratulations on your move!
