Default Early Bird Gets the Worm (Sanderling).

Here is the reason that this individual has a full crop on the portrait I posted a few days ago. This is one of three such plump worms it ate in the space of 15-20minutes! The worm looks mangled as the Sanderling had tried to rip it in pieces by holding it by the bill and shaking its head violently (I've got some interesting "head spin" blurs that shows that "nicely" ).

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp, darkened pupil, lightened iris, a piece of feather cloned out in LRC.

Very nice image daniel. I love the size of the worm compared to the sanderling.
Great low POV and IQ. Whites look good.
I am glad you included the bit of water in the FG for a touch of color and context,
    Gail

Super image, Daniel. This bird's meal is truly full of detail, and what a great story.

Hi Dan, great angled feeding pose, and thats one juicy grub you both managed to capture. Well placed in the frame, and overall well exposed.

Gorgeous, as always. I wonder if you were able to get a vertical with more of the reflection? (And this reminds me, I never got around to having lunch...)
