The IQ is truly outstanding here Andreas, whew - impressive! Love the colours and your processing is impeccable, ticks all the boxes for me, beautiful capture! So well exposed. Congrats Andreas, another stunner, well done again!!!
Lekker slaap, dream of lions, wild cats, gemsboks, red dunes, little foxes, dark starry skies, barking geckos, and a small tent somewhere in the Kalahari...
Hi Andreas - seems you have been saving some of the best for last! I think this is my new favorite. Gorgeous light and nice low pov. I like the water as the fg too. Interesting interaction. It all works for me.
Hi Andreas, colours are to die for love it, nice late winter sun, cannot beat it! Not so sold on the central placement and the bodies in the BKG, but nothing you could do, also you would not have perhaps been able to capture the nice embracing behaviour . Like the POV.
Same comment as previous, just find the contrast between sharp & 'unsharp' too strong, it does create a nice effect, but for me just a little too much/obvious, just a personal taste.
Thanks all for your kind comments , well Rachel it is great that i still find things that you like amongst my numerous seal postings , keeps me busy to go on, thanks for that .
Steve just for you two postings , with different sharpening approaches .
This will be with smart sharpen , same settings just lower %.
Andreas, Andre says (lying on the couch, exhausted after a whole afternoon of cooking this huge, huge lasagne): "Bring the image, you can do more PP work on it here in Hluhluwe"
I think it might need a tad straightening, maybe an illusion because of water ripples -WDYT?
Gabriela tell Andre image is too heavy to carry along . I also thought about rotation , but decided against it.
Just finished working today ,i am now in holiday mode , start packing tomorrow morning and off i go on tuesday ............. to where ?
Enjoy the beginning of your holiday, Andreas! I do see the KTP as my home, even though I was born thousands of km away... We hope you will feel at home in Hluhluwe and also in the Kalahari, and I can assure you there'll be lots of fun and talks and late evenings and some new friends too (Carl cannot wait to meet you as well!).
It is really not all about photography, at least to me - it is about sharing with you that which we treasure most - our love for wildlife. It is also about all of us readjusting our senses to this special environment, learning to listen to the discreet sounds of the geckos at night, the roar or lions, the jackal call, or just sitting around the fire quietly and slowly sipping our drinks...Merlot, in my case, and it is already tucked away in the trailer
Definitely my favourite from the series. Not only the pose, especially the smile on the seal on the right, but the light is fantastic (for England !). The low POV is spot on. In a ideal world I could live without the oof seals but no deal breaker.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with over the next week or 2.
Thanks Mike for your comment , much appreciated.
I would also have liked a seal free BKG , i told them to move but the crashing waves have been too loud , they could not hear .
Will see what we come up with ? Seals in the Kalahari ? am i going the right direction ?
Very nice Andreas, love the expression & lighting on this pair, I'd stay with the OP for mine, yes agree it would be preferable not to have the OOF seals, but I'd be happy to have this all the same.
