This is another pose of the leopard I posted earlier, it was a spine-chilling experience as we got under the tree, right under her nose and she looked straight down the lens barrel. I got better DOF this time !

Hi Sanjeev - the Timbavati has certainly delivered on the close up leopard encounters. DOF is much better here and the eye contact is great. Looks like it was pretty bright, judging by the leopard's pupils and the highlights from the side lighting. You exposed well for the leopard in the shade. I might try to tame the highlights on the face a little more. If it were mine I would also crop to eliminate the small triangle of sky in the lrc.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Thanks Rachel, I certainly got good sightings of the leopards. I have many more to share :-) I will tone down the bright areas a bit more and eliminate the triangle. Cheers.

Hi Sanjeev, I like your thinking on this. The diagonals work, and the branches seem to act like a sandwich, framing the subject. Both techs & sharpness are better on this compared to the previous image where the DoF tailed off to the nose, however I think this is pulled back, so not so close. Agree on the above comments, but I might also look to individually toning/darkening the two branches to create a bit more depth.

    Hello Sanjeev,

I could not possibly come up with better suggestions than Rachel and Steve... So... techs aside, I really like the way you framed your subject and I love the pose, beautiful close-up of this leopard and those ears pulled back certainly mean business Well done, hope you have more from the Timbavati trip, love your posts and looking forward to your next image

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
