    Default Double-crested Cormorant with fish

    Attached Images Attached Images

    1DX + 600 mm f/4 IS II
    1/8000, f/5.6, ISO 1600, Aperture Priority

I didn't need this much shutter speed and could use a smaller aperture for more DOF, but the light was constantly changing as it was partly cloudy that evening. This is almost full frame.
    All C&C welcome.

I like the sharpness, IQ, details, exposure, action and fish is centered perfectly in between the open beak. Excellent image Binu!

Looks like you the same shooting situation as I do down here. Terns hunting overhead and cormorants below.Sure makes for lots of action huh.
The frame looks killer with the fish suspended perfectly between the upper and lower mandible fishes angle is perfect too.
    very nice Binu

Wonderful. It's sometimes tempting to oversharpen a capture like this, but this one is perfect. Great light, comp, and action.

Oh man this is a big WOW from me! Superb action image, even the fish is posed just right. The only thing I would do, and yes it is minor, would be to remove the one spot near the upper right corner. I wouldn't change anything else. Excellent photography!!

Split-second action well captured, Binu! The fish could not have been placed in a better spot! Good focus where it matters - well done & TFS!

We always strive for a good head angle, and when you have two subjects (one of which isn't exactly cooperating), it can be tough. In this case the fish position makes it for me. The splashes are a big plus. I would agree with Daniel about the (minor) clone/crop that would get rid of the top right of the image

Hi Binu, very well timed to capture this moment. Love the curvature of the fish, together with the flying droplets. The soft light a bonus.

Where? The fish rocks. And so did your timing. I'd love to see this a bit wider with the head, face, and bill selectively sharpened and with some NIK Detail Extractor/Tonal Contrast.

    Thanks again everyone!

Thanks Artie! I'll post a version with the changes you suggested. This was also taken at Shoreline Lake in Mountain View, CA (https://www.google.com/maps/place/37...5'41.1%22W)

I've cropped it wider, selectively sharpened the head and applied NIK Detail Extractor/Tonal Contrast as Artie suggested and cloned out the spot at the top right corner as Daniel suggested. I had to add some canvas to the top and right as this is almost full frame.

For me, the repost is better but only 100 times better.... Biggest improvements are the added space and the sharpened face. Sounds like a great spot. I was at Palo Alto Wetlands once or twice a long time ago. What kind of kites are flying in the kite flying area near Shoreline Lake ??? :)
