M belated contribution to Rhino Day.

Sorry -I forgot to put captive on but I thought it pretty obvious,. Not sure how different it is from sitting in a safari vehicle in a game reserve with dozens of other people being driven to a "kill" for example but there we are. The main difference for me is I cannot go there so "safari""parks are my only choice.. Is that so bad ? The eye in this shot is saying it all to me.
It is saying-
"OK the purists would like to see me out in the wild where I might be chased around a bit by folks after my bits,- but you know what ??-I quite like it here !"
I understand that a lot of the "reserves" are in fact fenced (may be wrong ), but if they are then are not the animals in there "Captive" ? Or lets have a new one- "Semi captive ".

Nice close-up, John! I love seeing these giants - "Captive" or not. To me personally the criteria should be: is this animal exposed to carnivores or not? But this topic had been debated many times. Fact is even large resrves like the Kruger Park is also 'fenced' - it's just very large. Even in Botswana fences prevent the spread of diseases - they're just very far from one another.
Those digestives are doing wonders for the rhino's skin John. magnificent..! It look wonderfully sharp and in good nick.. Well done. Maybe a spot of NR on the BG but who's looking huh..?
Thanks guys.
Tobie- good point about carnivores.
Don- will try.
I have un limited access to one of the biggest safari parks in the country , The West Midlands Safari Park, down the road a mile or so .
I ought to make more use of it I suppose. They also run or own the Ongava game reserve I believe. I,ll see about a free trip!!
Cheers
