    Default Blue hour surfing

Hi all just another seal , you have to live without my seal images in the upcoming weeks so thought i will post some in the next couple of days before i head south .

This Grey Seal bull was approaching the beach with a nice swell of water pushing to the sides of him. This makes it working nice for me.Image taken at Donna Nook in England , such images are not possible to take on Helgoland , meaning at that low level . The beach here in Donna is wide and flat , on Helgoland it is "narrow and Steep".

I left in the blue colors because of the time of the day , when the shot was taken. But you could have your own view and share it with me .

    Canon EOS 1D MK IV
    Ef 5,6 800 IS L
    Tripod

F 10; ; 1600 ; 1/400 sec ; with hindsight i should have stopped down for more SS , but the seal is sharp so it comes out ok.

Processed with DPP and PS CC ; cropped for comp , no NR or blurring of BG .

Hope you like it ,thanks fro watching and commenting to my previous thread .

    Cheers Andreas

Andreas, this is awesome. Great low POV, love the eye contact and the splashing water. I don't mind the colours. Well done & TFS.

Hi Andreas, I like the way the seal seems to be ploughing his/her way through the water, displacing it either side. Perhaps a slight CW rotation, visually by eye, not with anything technical. Quite like the soft light, but overall it looks a bit flat to me? maybe getting a little brighter in the whites too for the water to add some contrast?

BTW If you are flying into Jo Berg get your bags shrink wrapped!

Hi Andreas - the blue tones work for me. Nice low pov. The splash and eye contact make this image. Good suggestions by Steve. I would tone down the one brighter, white pebble (?) in the lower middle if it were mine.

    Rachel

Thanks Sanjeev, Steve and Rachel for your thoughts and suggestions .
Hope RP address the "issues", i am 50/50 about it .
Rachel the pebble is just a catchlight in the water , no pebbles at all at Donna Nook if i remember correctly .

Steve what is "shrink wrapped" and more important why ? and yes i fly into JHB , only 6 days to go , yiiiii haaa !!!!!!

    Cheers Andreas

    Hello Andreas,

Yep, only a few sleeps and you'll be posting on BPN from my Apple, the-heee! You might want my monitor to be re-calibrated...Now seriously... shrink wrapped means your luggage gets wrapped in clear plastic ( much like cling wrap ). Steve is right, and a necessary step to protect your luggage from being handled roughly or things "lost" in transit. Andre will email you tomorrow with more details.

I like this very much Andreas, love the splash and there's a silvery quality to this image, which combined with those blues on the seal's fur brings an interesting effect. Your seal images are all very different - one could never get bored with them, please keep them coming I also love the framing and presentation, very pleasing, well processed, well done!!!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Andreas, only a pleasure! Love your RP, by the way!
Andre is going to email you with directions, I would strongly suggest you bring a GPS, if you have one. You get SD cards with Southern Africa at any outdoor shop or you can buy them online. Regarding comms, we will email you our mobile phone numbers, house numbers and work. Much cheaper than roaming would be to buy a sim card at the airport and load some airtime. Andre will email you tomorrow with more details re. trip to Hluhluwe from Joburg. And all other things we can think of...

Lekker slaap! Can we have a South African Braai (barbecue) to celebrate your arrival?
