    I captured this image last Friday at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. About a 50% crop for composition from a horizontal image. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Joe:

    The high key effect works very well here. Nice exposure on the pileated. For me the vertical comp works because of the balance provided by the greenery below.

    Hi Joseph, well exposed on the WP, and I like how is perched between the cut off branches. I do like the high key finish, and also like the foliage wrapped around the base of the perch.

    Thank you both for viewing and commenting. This week in central Florida a early cold front has stalled, everyday cloudy, not typical for Florida. The sky as a background was white/grey not very attractive but excellent for going white with giving the appearance of high key finish.

    Wow. My instantaneous thought was that this was an Audubon print, somehow appearing on a photography site. Moments later, my wife (a non-birder) sat down beside me, glanced over and said immediately said "that looks like an Audubon." I'd take this as a compliment if I were the photographer.
