    Default Buff Breasted Sandpiper, (adult)

This particular bird was photographed during fall migration 2012 in Northern Minnesota. I found over 30 buff breasted sandpipers during this year's (2014) migratory push of this species through my area, and non of them were adults. Canon 7d, Sigma50/500os, iso800, f8, 1/500, small crop, NR to the bg and fg, USM to the subject and the in focus grassy areas. In RAW conversion, I did cool off the white balance a little. The light was very late evening light. The two flowers are only dandelions, but I left them in because I thought they added some visual pop in an otherwise visually simple scene. Comments and critiques welcome.
    Regards,
    Shawn Zierman.

Nice shot enhanced by the soft BG Shawn. Pity about the soft FG but no way of excluding it here. The sharpening might have gone just a tad too far but beautiful regardless.

Hi Shawn, I really like the light in this, and in turn has brought out lovely warm colours throughout. Great low perspective, and the sandpiper is nice and sharp. That BG is simply stunning, and nothing wrong in keeping your dandelions.

Good call keeping those dandelions in there...besides, they can be thought of any yellow species of flower anyway. Excellent low angle, sweet light, and I like the BG too. I do see a bit of a magenta cast to the image so perhaps adding a touch of greens to the colour balance would help without affecting the sweetness of the light's warmth.

Great light , lovely colors with a very nice low POV and good DOF. I am fine with overall colors , even if there is a slight magenta cast , but at an acceptable level at least for me.

Nice work , Shawn . TFS Andreas
