    Default Purple Sandpiper redux

I posted another frame of this guy back in April, taken at Barnegat Jetty. It was fun watching him dart to the safety of an upper rock the instant before a wave came in, then dart back down the slippery rock to see what new tidbits the wave brought in. He was focused on his feeding (and the waves), and oblivious to my presence. Slight crop for comp.

Nice capture, Bill. I like the expectant pose, water drops, comp and sharpness. The grey sky and background give a sense of habitat and add to the "mood" of this one.

Nice work Bill. Technically good but it feels slightly tight in the frame for my taste. Well done. Regards, Ian

Lovely shot fine details. I would personally try to brighten up the eye a little bit, I think it would make a significant difference.

Nice image Bill, I like the feel of the image. The color of the bird and background compliment. The in focus rock an out of focus rock provide depth. I sit here wondering how the bird can hold on to the rock, it looks so slippery.

Really a wonderful, intimate view of this beauty in his habitat. Despite being large in the frame, this works very well for me as I'm enjoying the plumage, droplets, his precarious perch and the background. Well exposed and processed...I wouldn't change a thing.

Hi Bill, Its amazing how he's 'holding' on that slimy rockface. The sandpiper is sharp, and the droplets on his back puts this up a few notches. If this were mine, I would take a bit off the top, and add to the bottom.

Great image, Bill. You captured him in the moment of anticipation beautifully. Such detail, and like all the levels of light playing off the slippery rocks.

This is definitely one of the shorebird species I dream of finding in Minnesota. Love this species and this is a great image of one. I can feel the elements of wind and water in this image and I dig that. To me, the composition is intimate without being too tight....great really. A bit more light/life in the eye would be nice, but probably only achievable with fill flash...

    Thanks everyone.

Stuart, this was almost full-frame. I cropped just a tiny bit from left and top, so there is no extra canvas to play with on the bottom.

I like it Bill you can almost feel that it's slippery Perhaps a little bit more room below would be nice. Further I like the details and drops.

    Cheers, Tom
