Hi all, this time a not so eye pleasing image . More a natural history document.
A Antarctic Skua feeding on a King Penguin chick , surveyed by the other chicks of the colony. The Skua is there for cleaning up the place as there are no land animals for this job.

WDYT? By knowing this would not be everybody's cup of tea.

Well what can you say about this. The cleaning up has to be done too. Not always fun to see bit you have captured the moment well.

    Cheers, Tom

Nice work Andreas. I like the plan you have used, it works well to tell a grim story. The sombre grey-brown colours of the birds, the rocks and background create the right atmosphere for the undertaker doing his work. The side glance of a couple of the chicks is one of foreboding. Regards, Ian

This image shows the harsh reality of life and death in an extreme environment. I like the composition and OOF penguins fading away into the BG. Very well done.

It's a great shot, very illustrative and the sombre colors reflect the situation.

Wonderful snapshot of nature at work.

The skua has been nicely captured and the BG penguins really set the tone for this

Very nice! It's hard to make a good story telling image with avian photography sometimes, but this fits that bill well. That skua almost looks camaflouged in this setting. I like seeing all the other chicks in the background...nature is pure, but man it's harsh.
