Default A Little Cherub Named Savannah.

While slowly driving down a country road I came upon this young Savannah Sparrow happily preening, scratching, yawning, and stretching on this fence post. Amazingly it stayed there for a full 10 minutes while I photographed it doing so. Here's a little over-the-shoulder stretch it gave me before resuming its preening activities...

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld from car, FF, a few pieces of debris eliminated from perch, an oof grass strand growing out of the sparrow's back cloned out.

This is such a lovely image, Daniel. Love the light, the perch, the pose and it all works great against your awesome BG.

    Daniel:

The colors between the perch, bird and background work very well here. Like the slight gradient at the top of BG, gives a little more presence there.

Cute pose that works well with the shape of the large perch. He might have been overpowered by the perch is sitting sedately!

    Cheers

That's a wow pose and very impressive that you achieved this from a car! The perch is uber deluxe, and size wise, regarding what you've shown of it...it's perfectly balanced with the bird. Awesome light quality and techs.

Hi Dan, I like the light in this, and we forget how small the wings of the smaller birds are, after viewing large wingspans. Good detail all round, sharp, and I do like the moss covered perch and smooth BG.

This fence post has character, makes a nice perch. The little cutie bird is very nice with its stretching and the background is nice and smooth, Daniel.
