Not as impressive as the European Starling murmurations, but these can be nearly as spectacular if you find a big enough flock. This flock was quite small, but I liked the effect of the slow shutter panning.

Wow, Morkel, fantastic!!! Love it. The shaft of light matching the colors of the bird and the ground made a nice contrast to the darker green BG. Loi

This is quite unique, Morkel, and I am really enjoying the feel. It's also thought-provoking which is always good. The color combo is great and love the feeling of motion.

    Morkel:

It almost feels as if one large 'creature' is writhing through the air here, very cool.

Play of color and light adds sense of action, as of course the slow shutter speed.

Very curious what you think of the Df for wildlife use.

Very nice Morkel, wonderful feel of motion to the image. Your image makes me want to try it, now only to find a flock of birds. Thank you for sharing.

Very effective and conveys a nice sense of speed. Excellent comp. Wondering if toning down the brightest area at bottom would help with the flow of the image...

Hi Mork, great use of a slow ss, and I like the effect of the lines in the BG from panning. Nice flow of lines of the flock through the image.

Hi Morkel unusual and interesting image . Think i need a while to like it totally. What i definitely like is the color palette and the overall tone/contrast.
For sure it is worth to experiment , congrats that you did so.

I like the artistic approach. If I like it as a bird picture I don't know yet. But you make me think about it and that's good I do like the colors in this image.

Thanks everyone. This won't be everyone's cuppa-tea but I like to experiment more than I like to just nail a certain type of sharp ID pic.
    Daniel - good suggestion!
