Default Water lilies and reeds - Common loon cruising

This common loon was imaged in Northern Michigan last month. I was struck by the background and water lilies, so worked this cooperative fellow for a while.

Really beautiful Randy. I have never photographed ths species, but can imagine it is hard to get the exposure right and get good image unless the light is good. Love the BG. The ony thing I feel is this image seems to be compressed on the vertical dimension for me. Would like a little more sace top and bottom if you have it. Loi

Stunning portrait, Randy. Lovely pose and I just love that BG, esp the yellow flowers.

This is stunning, Randy - love the soft light, low angle and the complementary BG shapes and colours. All round proper image!

Beautiful image, Randy. Your usual excellence on the loon, and you've outdone yourself on the background. The lilies would make Monet envious. I agree with Loi that a little more on top wouldn't hurt, if what's above the crop line is as lovely as what's showing.

Dang it...Bill beat me to it...yes, you've definitely achieved a painterly background. All aspects of the image are balanced and beautiful to my eye.

Hi Randy, love the soft light in this, and you certainly captured a great HA. Your usual spot on exposure on these guys, sharp, and that distant OOF BG is simply superb, especially that single yellow flower. Well thought out.

Hi Randy another very nice frame of your Loons .
All works good here, the light , colors , tones and the pleasing BKG very soft with some patches of nice colors from the flowers.

Very good work, congrats . TFS Andreas

Highly appealing!! Great head angle, low perspective, and the BG is stunning.

Beautiful image Randy, a striking bird on a fairytale background. As near a perfect image as I have seen.

Amazing image, Randy. The pose and details are really nice but the background makes it for me the most.

I agree with the others, Killer frame. The bird looks great but the BG makes it special for me. Well done Randy
