This isn't the prettiest contribution, but I was able to get fairly close to it. I assume it's a juvenile. It was at Bodega Bay, up the coast from San Francisco, waiting for scraps from fishermen cleaning a catch. I made it a little nervous but it stayed put while I got some pictures and backed off. This was the best angle I could get for an opening in the FG grasses.

Canon 5D3, 300mm f/2.8 IS + 1.4X, ISO 1600, f/11, 1/1250. Fog. Basic processing in LR 5 (not much needed due to soft light) and into PS for Detail Extractor on the head only and a little more color and tonal tweaking.

Very nice image. You can see that he is not quite comfortable but good for you that he stayed put Love the HA and wings up a bit. I would remove the white stuf on the left rock.

    Cheers, Tom

Nice contribution Diane as they are part of the natural chain. Great look-back pose and soft light.

    Diane:

Soft light was perfect for this one. Like the yellow lichen on the rocks, head angle, great DOF.

    Well done.

    Cheers

Thanks everyone! I'll clean up the rock. Would like to catch the TV and give it a bath, too. They must roost vertically -- most of the ones I see are splattered.

Great looking shot of this Vulture. Tons of nice feather details due to some excellent exposure and lighting. Very well done.
