This old unit was a real character. Not the prettiest specimen, but I bet he's got stories to tell! The light wasn't too shoddy either.

Captured somewhere between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans in Africa.

Hi Morkel , sadly we cannot listen to him, just imagine what he did in his life.
Lovely golden light and a nicely framed image. Usual good and expected processing with nice color and tones , but would add a slight mid tone for more tonal depth in the Unit.

Hey High ISO king only 1600 ? The horn in front looks slightly softer than i.e. the legs ? FP ?

    Very nice , Morkel

Light was golden but soft (dust you know), pushed ISO for the f8
Pretty sure sharpness it's an illusion based on the cracked mud texture of the legs, FP was on the eye. Will give the face another whip of the sharpening lash

Agree with above but that stunning light and smooth calm water. Just wondering what the full reflection would have looked like but you probably framed this 'in camera'.

very nice Morkel, good light and he looks great. Agree with the others that a bit more sharpening would be great.

    Hi Morkel,

agree with the light and color, great stuff. Also curious how the reflection in the water would have looked like. Next time you know we ask for that as well, than you turn fast the camera just for us to see the reflection, thanks

    Have a great weekend

    Ciao

PS hope the little one gets better soon

Thanks folks. There wasn't a good angle for reflection here and too much gunk in the way. I did get a reflection shot when I moved to my left where the angle over the water was better - yes I was on foot .
Version 2 - face sharpened some more...

Awesome image, Morkel. Great light, head angle, and composition. Is this FF or cropped? If cropped, I would be curious to see what it looks like with a bit more space on the LHS for the subject to look into. Was this from that bunker or somewhere else?

    Thanks Andreas.

Hey Mark - pretty much full frame but I do recall a slight crop from the LHS for "balance"...see the merit in your suggestion though - more pano with dead space left?

Yep, that is what I was thinking, but just for curiosity; your current version works fine as is.
