I love Dahlias. This is a close up of one from my garden.

Great composition, and the blurring is very effective. As much as I like the colors, this would look super in black & white, too. Very nicely done.

    Anita,

Greetings. Beautiful color and composition. I would be inclined to back off the blur on the curled petals toward the center (the ones just to the right of the flower center not including the clipped one on top). It's a small thing that I see on close inspection. The overall effect is very nice as is. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Hi, Anita, a lovely Dahlia portrait I like the vignette blur but I would like to see a little blur at the very top. I hope you had a nice summer!

Thank you Dennis, Michael and Cheryl. I appreciate the suggestions. I'll work on the blur--more some places, less others. :-)
Cheryl: I had a good summer, but my photography slowed down, which is OK. It didn't go away. I think my life may be more in balance now.

It's a much different look, and the softness is nice. I like them both.

I like the original Anita for the colours. The sharpness of the center and the contrast with the softer petals is pleasing. I also like your composition. I would love to see it in b and w too.

This is just drop-dead gorgeous! I prefer the slightly richer colors of the original.

Thank you Dennis, Jackie and Diane. When I redo a photo, it never turns out the same.

Thank you Cheryl and Paul. I'm going with the second one. :-)
