    Default Another tern

Another from Moss Landing last week. Canon 5D3, 300mm f/2.8 IS + 2X (in order to be able to handhold). ISO 1600, 1/4000 @ f/9. I probably didn't need that much DOF or SS -- maybe should have gone to ISO 800, but the light was dreary.

Basic LR adjustments and to PS for some dodging and burning with masked Curves. No sharpening or NR on this one, although I might have a second look at them. It's 70% of the original frame.

I like the sharpness, details, exposure, and composition. Curve of the near wing and the fish really add to the image. Well done Diane.

Hi Diane , nice high key frame of the tern . Good detail and nice tones. Maybe opening up the eye slightly would give a bit more life.

Love the high-key look and that Elegant orange bill; and that fish is spectacular. Agree about the eye.

Wonderful image. I love photographing terns but not easy birds. Wonderful job.

Really nice, the fish head angle is fantastic! maybe a tad bit brighter, but could be my monitor.

Very nice capture Diane. The pose and the wing position looks great and the angle of the anchovie is perfect. Yes to lightening the eye area and maybe add a catchlight. Nice flight shot.

Thanks everyone! I'll fix the eye -- it does look like a black hole...

The techs worked out well...ISO 1600 is not a big deal anymore so why not use it! I love the curled fish. There is already a faint reflection in the eye that you could simply enhance.
