It's amazing the patience the adults hyena have with the young. It seems they are often used as chew toys and climbing apparatuses. Taken at a hyena den in the Timbavati Game Reserve, South Africa as the late afternoon light hit the den.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

    Hi Rachel,

parents are always toys, remember this very much !!
Great image of the youngsters having their fun with a parent. On the upper RHS I might would get rid of the roots, but this is me. I know you do not touch them

    Have a great day

    Ciao

Hi Rachel a very nice image of mum being very calm and relaxed with the youngsters .
Like the tones and colors , great detail as always . I just only feel there is too much space on top and not enough on the foot of the image.
Sharpening looks better here than on the buff , at least for me .

A very nice one , TFS Andreas

    Hi Rachel

The angle and the expression of the Mom, to me makes this image.
    F8 worked well, 1/250 a bit dicy…
Stunning processing with nice warm tones..
    Lots of detail, congrats!
    Regards

    Andre.

    Hello Rachel,

What a lovely surprise, loved viewing this, adorable little cubs, and mom - or aunty - really patient as only a hyena female can be when in company of young. Love the warmth, comp is great and the slight tightness on the bottom is a plus for me, brings me closer to the subjects. I personally would have cropped a tad off the LHS, since most of the action tends to point towards the right side of the frame. Detail is unbelievable for 1/250s but with such great light you could probably get away with just about any SS...A beauty, would love a copy of this on my study wall...Super killers with soft hearts for their offspring...I really love wildlife, images like this move me and make me go out there to explore. Thank you Rachel, great processing and presentation, this works for me 200%!!!

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
