I've been painting again, this time it's another dog. Mike is one of my favorite subjects and is easier to work with than most humans. Mixer brushes of course and a couple of textures including a canvas texture.

Nicely done. I'm not usually a fan of black backgrounds, but this one sure works with the colors of the dog. The texture is likely part of the reason, too. I wish the lower right were blended into the background more, but it's very nice the way it is.

nicely done. great contrast. on my monitor, the upper half of the fur edges are sharp, "furry" while the lower half has an almost halo effect. Am I seeing this right? Love the eyes!! Good to see you posting again. Welcome back.

Nice details in the eyes and fur Kerry. Great brush work. He looks like a very calm dog. Nice to see you had a chance to post.

    Kerry,

Greetings. Great painting work. I'm particularly fond of the eyes. A less distinct edge to the black on the bottom would work for me as would a little less yellow under the muzzle. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

What a great subject and look! I too wish the blacks weren't quite such a strong transition, but that's a small thing. Wonderful rendering! I still mean to try this sort of painting.

HI, Kerry, good to see you back. I love this and love the black background. His eyes are so soulful.

Beautiful. I can look deep into those soft eyes. I agree with Dennis about the right side.
