love the action, well done, placement of the beetle couldn't have been better.
Looks maybe a little dark on my screen and maybe a bit of sharpening on the back of the bird, a little soft maybe.

    Congrats

Hi Michael.....looks like a good behavior shot to me. You have the morsel captured in mid air.
Techs look good, but image has a blue cast easily removed via curves adjustment.

Might crop a bit off the top and add a bit to the right for the YCNH to move into......just an option, but definitely a bit off the top. The YCNH love to hunt same areas if productive, so definitely seek him out

For illustration, this is with curves adjustment only, setting white and black points.....and there is still some extra cyan

Thanks for the valuable comments. I have made another effort: curves adjustment, sharpening, slight crop. Clearly a big improvement, but I'm not sure if I'm all the way yet.

much better Michael, IMO of utmost importance(next to composition) is getting the color accurate as possible and use sharpening as your last step.
Good to try setting sharpness you think is good and then back off about 10-20% and you'll probably be at a safe point.

It all comes with practice and reading what the mods write in critiques....don't have to always agree with them, but absorb all comments into the mix

Excellent capture Michael !!! Good solid advice from Dave !!!! Can only add that I wish that bird had a slightly different head angle. Not much you could do about it in this case !!!! btw if you follow these birds around they will flip fiddler crabs up in the are when they are feeding !!! Do keep track of the sun angle and get yourself in a favorable position. Keep moving with the bird !!!!
