Off a boat along edge of river bank where animals frequented to to replenish their mineral requirements. A small herd of impala arrived while we busy with some bee eaters.
Nikon D700 - 600mm f4 + 1,4
ISO 1250 - f6,3 - 1/1250 sec - high shutter speed due to boat and there was a bit of action
Very vivid capture Carl!
Looks like he loves those greens..
Lots of detail, DOF works well, must have been close to get this much DOF with 6,3!
The horns keep grabbing my eye, well processed!
The thin white line on top side of horns and below cheek, was it there or is it from masking?
Cheers
Andre

You got some lovely detail on this impala, beautiful colours, and what a stunning BG with those soft pinks and greens. Love the way the subject enters the frame, its positioning makes this so attractive to view. Great work Carl, I like this very, very much.
I miss my lions, make sure to tell them when you see them again
Hi Carl - one of your best for me! It's not easy to isolate an impala. You did so and made it look elegant. I love the simplicity, the creamy bg and the dof. Sharpness looks good too. Well done!
Hi Carl , looks very good from processing POV . Lovely creamy BKG , good tone and detail . crop works very nice like wise . I just find it a tad too saturated , just my view .
Thanks Gabriela, Rachel and Andre. Have a few more of them but this ones open horn angle seemed more pleasing to the eye. Andre what are you trying to tell me - that the nikon f6,3 has far superior dof. The thin white line you see on cheek is its underside area. No masking done at all in fact little else except what I forgot to mention - softened the greeny vegetation on middle left side. Only sharpened at 63% at radius 0,3 sum for web.
G - I think after spending half a day with us or you they have gone into hiding as I have not seen them for nearly a week now.
This is just one helluva pleasing photograph to view, Carl!
Soft light, interesting pose/behaviour, peaceful mood, image quality. One of your best indeed.
