This guy has done everything to evade me for weeks. Then a couple of days ago he suddenly appeared to have been saying "OK, please do your snaps so you can leave me alone!" and provided me with ample time to do my thing. He kept on moving from spot to spot, but never too far. Snapped in the garden.

One round of mild USM, dark spot (blurred leaves) removed at the back of his head.

    All C & C's welcome

Beautiful little bird Tobie ,with some super colours, the arrangement of berries add interest to the perch, nice image that I would be very pleased with.

That is a really cool perch! I love the way the bird is sitting at the top of it, and its head turn is really nice. Well placed in the frame too with a pleasing composition. The orange streak in upper right is unfortunate and worth a try at removing it or toning it down. Maybe a bit more NR to the BG would be good too.

Nice work Tobie, great bird to have around your garden. I agree with Daniel regarding top right - maybe remove the top two green leaves as well and yes, a round of NR on the background would be helpful. Regards, Ian.

Hi Tobie, yep sunbirds arent the easiest characters to capture, but seems like you nailed this one. Lovely pose looking slightly upwards, and you have exposed the iridescence nicely. I do like how you havent cut off the berries at the edge of the frame, and agree, a touch of NR wont harm.

Thanks for looking & the comments everyone! I guess one has a few options in response to the comments - I've gone for this one: one round of blur on the BG and most of the distractions removed in the TRH corner (using CS6).

I like the pose, perch, berries, details and composition. Repost looks better but I find the orange coloured branch end too abruptly now and I would make fade into the BG more. Nice image Tobie.
