    Default Up close & personal

    Attached Images Attached Images

From an up close & personal encounter with a wild cheetah in the Serengeti earlier this year, so close that at times the 24mm focal length was just too close!
Here this sub-adult is on the roof of our vehicle looking down on us.
    Serengeti Nat Park- Tanzania.

D700, 24-70 f/2.8 1/1600s f/5.6 ISO200@ 24mm. cropped to portrait, feet deliberately left out as the vehicle roof/frame came into play.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

Marc, this is such an unusual perspective. Excellent IQ and the clouds made the BG interesting. Not sure if the cheetah such skiny or the perspective made him so paper thin. Wish the head would be closer to the viewer. TFS. Loi

Hi Marc - another nice one in this series. I still don't love the cut off legs but understand why you did so. Another possibility would be a more square crop to just below the bottom of the body.

    Rachel

    Love this special encounter!
Love the sky behind, agree with Rachel on square crop.
Just wondering what this might look like at F22?
    Regards

    Andre.

    Dear Marc,

I suppose I don't have to tell you how much I love this, you probably know...Every version of this event is very special and my personal feeling is, should you crop this further you would lose this amazing perspective (which really makes the shot, in my opinion). I know every single viewer - and maybe even yourself - would like to see those paws, but I guess it was just impossible when your subject was so close. I just love this as is, would make a wonderful print on my study wall, what amazing sighting and opportunity, what an experience!!! Well done Marc

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

    Kind regards,
    Thanks Gabriela

His paws were behind the sunroof frame and it was the frame & my bean bag that I cropped out.

I might just open up the whole image , i just tried to use +20 brightness and it looks better , will look even better when use a mask , just my 2 cents.

Intense eye contact here, and the sky rocks Marc. I agree with Rachel that a square crop removing a wee bit more of the legs would probably improve it for my tastes...

Hi Marc, I agree as well with Rachel with a square crop. That looks to me better, but as usual is a taste matter of course.
great details and image for sure and different angle :))

    have a great day

    ciao Anette
