    Default Barred Owl in hiding

Took this shot at Circle B Bar Reserve, almost sent it to trash but I decided to process it. I liked the feeling of the shot, almost has a sad feeling like it wanted to be alone.

    Steve:

Glad you kept it, it is intriguing and thought provoking.

Inorder to keep our eye focused on the bird, I would consider toning down the brightest areas of vegetation hanging down on the right side of the frame. Our eye automatically goes to the brightest area in the image.

    Cheers

    Steve,

I think Randy nailed it with his critique. Toning down the edges would really help the owl pop a bit more (in a subtle way).

Glad you kept it and looking forward to more of you have them.

Intriguing and mysterious. Did you take some verticals of this scene? I do wish the oof strand in front of the eye and down to the bill was not there.n Glad you kept it too!

He is my repost after Randy's suggestion. I took it one step farther, after I toned down the bright areas of the moss I also lightened the face slightly. When reworking the image I found something in the image I didn't even realize was there. Upper right side has a Golden Orb Weaver hanging on a web, you have to look closely.

Let me know if the improvements helped.

No Daniel I didn't try any vertical shots. I really wasn't expecting to get any keepers since I couldn't get a clear shot, I was taking them more for documentation than anything else.

    Steve:

Nice improvement with the repost. Keeps the eye on the bird. Good call on lightening the face. Still looks natural, but displays better.

    Look forward to more.

    Cheers

Yes, this is very cool! The rework is perfect!! And I love the spider -- I wonder how often there are things in our pictures that we never notice.
