    Hi all,

This Cheetah was waiting for his mates to catch up a bit faster, I assume. They were slowly sneaking in to a Springbok herd in Etosha.
After 20min sneaking looking and who knows what the hunt started
Hey Rachel, now cats are on for you

In LR I did the usual settings and tweaks.
PS levels, mid tones and a few tiny tweaks and crop at the very end. Sharpened in PS

    Canon MKIV 300mm f/2.8 & 2x III
    f/7.1 1/6400ses ISO 800

yes I could have gone down to ISO 400 and swop up to f/8, but this camera was ready for the hunt and when I saw this one further away trying to get the mates to his spot!

Hi Anette - As I said, welcome back! About time you started posting some of your cat images after hearing a little of the encounters back in June . I really like the simplicity of this with the look back pose and the beautiful uniform grass bg. Like with Dumay's post the color of the grass complements the cheetah and I like the placement in frame as well. Only thing I might suggest is a little more room below. Well done!

    TFS,
    Rachel

Thanks a lot Rachel, I do have the space on the bottom you request, hmmmm, will have a look again at the file with the crop. I remember that this way I liked the crop better, but it does not hurt to check again
    Now coffee :))

    Have a great day

    Ciao

Hello Anette creeping back up from underground with a kitty cat image. welcome you newbie .

I like the concept on this one with some nice Etosha colors and contrast , difficult from time to time there , hey.Very nice all together , i would agree with Rachel about the crop , just a tiny bit more for the virtual butt.Plus i would open up the Cheetah ever so slightly.

Nice to see you posting and commenting. TFS Andreas

Hi Anette, simple and effective image. My first thought was for a little bit more space at the bottom as well. TFS. Loi

You know I like this, Anette. Good look-back pose and simplicity in setting.
I too would like a tad more room below...but only if the bottom is all grass like it is currently

This is a 'Wow!' pic, Anette! Everything simply works together to make it a great one - the light, the grasses, the special impatient look-back stare. Well done - the nicest one I've seen in a while!

    Love this a lot Anette,
and my first thoughts were this works really well as a monochrome conversion, had played around with it and comes up really well, love the crop/framing, look back pose in this isolation theme.
I do agree with Morkel for a tad more lower room if you have it?

    TFS

Awesome evocative shot, Anette. I'm with Morkel about a little more on the bottom if it's grass.

Hi Tobie, Morkel, Marc and Ed,

    edit…ups forgot the image.

sorry for the late reply. Had a hacker trying to get into my website. Had to dig deep and getting better security for it. Now my site is Pentagon… same secure or not!!!

Here comes the rest of the bottom of this Cheetha
I assume I should mention on the side, what I did not say, just to see if anyone in here brings it up to flip the image. I flipped it before I posted
    Rachel I can hear you

Marc I do have played around with B&W just need to be happy with than will post it

Have a great day and thanks so much to all of you for your time

    Ciao

    Dearest Annette,

I love the simplicity in so many of your images, you seem to effortlessly capture and convey a message that is so memorable and often touching (e.g. your polar bear photographs).

This stands out for me, it is unique in terms of presentation, and the cheetah (looking over its shoulder) amidst this silent landscape (I can only imagine it as silent) creates an impression of a subject that is powerful and noble.

I am truly inspired by your images, and especially scenes of solitude like this, they make me contemplate about Nature and other eternal things...

    I love your photography.

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
