    Default Twitching Ears

Image taken on a wild dog hunt this past April near Kwando Lagoon. The sun had played hide and seek behind a cloud, so many images were just totally flat. The pack stopped temporarily to get their bearings and listen to the prey, and the BG was a lush green and small pond, when the sun just dropped below the cloud. I was able to take 3 shots, ome of which with both ears forward which I had posted earlier. This is the last of the sequence with the dog swing his ers in opposite directions. Didn't know they have that much control over their ears!

Hi Loi - Nice portrait of the wd and I do like the ears pointing in different directions. Their own form of sonic radar. The comp works and there's nice detail and sharpness. It does seem a bit warm and red for the conditions you describe though.

    Rachel

Hi Rachel, the dogs went on a hunt before sunset, so when the sun dropped below the cloud, it was magical light. Very golden. The red on the fur is actually blood stain. Thank you for your comments. Loi

Nice clear detail, Loi. The grasses look water painted (in a good sense)!

I like everything about the soft light, the animal and its open mouth, the ears, and most especially, the BKGR. And the boxy crop is perfect here. Well done.

Hi Loi a very neat portrait of the WD , nicely done.Funny looking ear position that makes this different.Good detail and tones , but agree toning down the reds a fraction .
    Nice job.

    Dear Loi,

That F5 worked magic here, love the soft BG and the subject really pops for me, I guess the "twitching ears" dictated the crop and the IQ so good allowing you to compose as you like! Lovely detail, I really like the expression captured, the WD is so alert, seems to me he had been on the run for a while and just stopped for a brief moment to catch his breath and listen for sounds of possible prey, great behaviour shot IMO, well done, congratulations!

    Kind regards,

Sharp subject really pops against that great BG. Love the expression. They always seem to have blood-tinged necks!
