Default Portrait of a Black Bellied Plover

Enjoyed creating a few frames of this molting adult. He (or she?) ended up coming quite close so I opted to create a portrait as opposed to trying to cram him in the frame. Could have removed TC, but surroundings were messy.

    Thank you for looking.

Gorgeous in every way really. The big eyed look they have is even better when framed tight like this. The plumage is rad, and I really dig that one black feather in the center of the chest....reminds me of a pendant on a piece of jewelry.

    Grace:

Wise choice to work in tight, lots of fine detail, well exposed, soft bg.

    Cheers

Hi Grace, brilliant IQ here, and you managed a good angled pose. You have nailed the sharpness, and looks like the light played ball. Well captured.

Great decision to keep that TC on and go for the head shot. Very nice portrait with magnificent detail. Love that you can really distinguish the iris from the pupil.

One thing I would try is to remove the magenta outline around the catchlight. Very minor on an otherwise great photograph

Lovely image! Great composition and details!

Here where I live we get close to a 100 of Black-bellied Plovers yearly over winter but I have never been able to get close to them at all. Very, very shy birds around here.

What a great close-up portrait! Love the details and BG and the exposure is spot on. Brilliant use of aperture to get the perfect DOF. TFS

    Hi Grace,
I missed this image of yours. I really like it.
The IQ is awesome and the details superb. I am with Shawn on this one in that I like the single black feather on the chest.
    Lovely BG as well.
    Gail
