Hey don`t be afraid it is not as the HK seal .
Almost as straight out of cam.

I almost rolled this guy over with my car in Etosha , just saw him by luck crossing the road , normally i do look to the sides and not that much on the road .
So i jumped out of the car ,down in the dirt and fired a couple of shots , some worked some don`t.It was close to noon so light was pretty harsh .

    Hi Andreas

I definitely like this one. Very cool creature. Excellent details, sharpness and I like the color scheme. Very clean picture.

Love the sense of purpose in this little guy and the movement. Never saw one of these guys in Etosha when I was there.

Hi Andreas, getting down low is the only way to take pictures of this guy. Light was harsh, but you knew it. The shallow DOF is a pity. You must ne quite close and F8 didn't cut it. Loi

Great low POV and decent DOF on this one. You handled the light well and nicely composed.

Hi Andreas - Great low pov (though I don't agree with breaking the rules and getting out of a vehicle in a National Park). I too wish for greater dof. The fall-off here is just too quick and too much. Also no one else has mentioned it but the head doesn't look as sharp as your usual posts?

    TFS,
    Rachel

Cool image Andreas. Like the low angle, pale BG and the crisp focus on his head. Really cool! :). TFS

Great shooting angle and nice detail. The Chameleon pops from the surroundings. I am not sure if you wanted the shallow depth of field, but I would have moved back and maybe gone to f11 to get more of the Chameleon in focus. Glad you didn't drive over him!

Hi Andreas, like the low POV and I think Dumay has a point about DoF, but either way it works, just depends on what you are trying to achieve. I might add a Midtone adj but your call, I just think it helps. Personally I would have liked the front leg to be raised a little more to balance the rear and to have a bit more separation between it and the ground in that classic pose of walking.

Thanks folks for all your various comments regarding DOF and tonal adjustments .
    Appreciate your thoughts .
Regarding DOF it happened all in the heat of the moment , so honestly i did not check the settings , just fired some shots , i was lying in the middle of the road and i was afraid not get caught by either a Lion , another car or the NP staff. So al happened in a rush.
Regarding the tones it was close to noon and it was very bright sunshine and harsh , so i leave it as is , reflecting the light situation quite good. I was thinking even go lighter in the HL with less detail.

I agree with hindsight more DOF would have been great to get more of the Chameleon in focus , but i have to take it as is.

Thanks again folks ; Cheers Andreas

    Hello Andreas!

Just saw this as I was trying to catch up with all I missed while I was in Joburg, I think this is brilliant and I personally like the shallow DOF, very much. It would have been an average shot (IMO) if the whole chameleon was in focus, I like it just as is, I also love the POV and that BG is absolutely stunning (that includes the dark bit at the top)

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
