Taken shortly after sunrise at JBWR last week. This little fellow was right at the edge of the water, with a messy mud bank and swan feathers in the foreground; otherwise I would have cropped slightly differently. Background water was nice and clean. Fresh juvenal plumage on the bird.
What a fine looking individual. The slightly open beak adds a point of interest as do the subtle lines running along the bottom. Nice light as well. I could see a trim from the top and left as viewed as I feel that the bird is quite low in the frame. (Understand the issues in there with debris!)
Hi Bill i like the image as presented , i am fine with the dead space above , could be used for some kind of text .
Nice colors and tones and a very clean image design .
I like the size of the bird in the frame, but I would have preferred it placed higher. Understandable predicament though from what you describe. Perfect head turn towards us, and the ajar bill-tip is neat. Nice light and details.

Very nice. Somehow I feel that it needs a bit more on the bottom. You could try stretching a selection made with the Rectangular Marquee Tool...

Sweet image, Bill. Very nice light had by all that morning. The direction picks up the finer detail well. I like both crops and agree with a bit more room at base.
