    Default Least Sandpiper

Taken shortly after sunrise at JBWR last week. This little fellow was right at the edge of the water, with a messy mud bank and swan feathers in the foreground; otherwise I would have cropped slightly differently. Background water was nice and clean. Fresh juvenal plumage on the bird.

What a fine looking individual. The slightly open beak adds a point of interest as do the subtle lines running along the bottom. Nice light as well. I could see a trim from the top and left as viewed as I feel that the bird is quite low in the frame. (Understand the issues in there with debris!)

Lovely details, pose and light. I agree with Grace that the bird is a tad low in the frame for me so I'd probably crop a little tighter.

Bill I see what Grace and Marina say about the bird being low in the frame ,the bird itself and the setting look great to me.

Grand looking little fella. I feel a tighter crop maybe. Cut off shadow problem again.
    Great clarity.

I like the size of the bird in the frame, but I would have preferred it placed higher. Understandable predicament though from what you describe. Perfect head turn towards us, and the ajar bill-tip is neat. Nice light and details.

Lovely. A pano crop might work very nicely here.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Here's a version as a 9:16 pano.

Very nice. Somehow I feel that it needs a bit more on the bottom. You could try stretching a selection made with the Rectangular Marquee Tool...

Just a smidgen of room on the bottom with that infinite BG would be fantastic.

Sweet image, Bill. Very nice light had by all that morning. The direction picks up the finer detail well. I like both crops and agree with a bit more room at base.
