Default Morning colors and her Grace

    Hi all,

This one is from one early morning encounter with a pride of Lions on a juv elephant kill.
She had her fill earlier and was resting in shade on the other side of the road from where we were parked. She decided to then move slowly, probably to enjoy the warmth of the first rays. The backdrop is of the hill of Zambia with the Zambezi river in the middle, plus that magical color scheme (I've tried to mimic what I saw in the field).

A small crop was done to adjust a slight CW rotation.

Love the pose with a stunning backlit BG, although (even for me) the blues & magenta in that BG are just a little too strong and would reduce them, granted it was early morning

Lovely sharp capture of a nice scene, Shreyas! I like the alert look on her face! Marc has said the rest - but beautiful, nonetheless!

I think this would really work nicely as a monotone. I like how the trees above frame the animal. The bright line in the BG is a bit harsh but thats why I think if its a mono. it will work better.

Hi Shreyas - I like the way the lion is looking off into the distance and the way the tree canopy frames the image. The blacks and midtones feel a bit strong and I agree with the points about the bg. I took it into PS, dropped the blacks, opened up the midtones (except on the lion), dropped the sat of magentas, blues and cyans and burned the bg at 5%. I did this very quickly and it can be done with more care and to better results with the RAW file. I just wanted to give you an idea.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Thanks all for the responses.
@ Rachel, thanks for the re-work and suggestions. I myself did something similar with toning down the bg as suggested by all but then came back to this original version just because for me it gave a true sense of the early light in Mana.

Surely different pairs of eyes will not have the bias that I probably have for the environment and the light there, but all in all, the blue haze with turquoise patches are something exquisite for me

    Cheers

    Hi Shreyas

Just got to say I love this one. Love her expression, the light in her eyes, how she is framed in by the tree and the contrasts of different natural saturations in the picture.

    TFS, Gregor
