    Caught this Skimmer Chick in a yawn the other night at the local Colony. Soon they will all fledge and be gone for the winter. Love to watch them grow from tiny balls of fluff to adulthood.

    800 ISO f7.1 at 1/4000th
    Cropped for posting and lightened the mouth inside just a touch.

    Hi Joe, I like the warm light in this, together with your low shooting angle. Great that we can see straight into the bill. Comp wise, I would take about half off the bottom to just below the thicker grass in the FG.

    Superb image in beautiful lights. Very nice pose, habitat and composition.
    Do agree with Stuart about crop at the bottom and also adding some on the top if you have it.

    Nice yawn, nice light. I am wondering about survival of the really young chicks as the adults are showing signs of flocking up and checking out. I am home now so please keep us in the loop.
