    Default Juvi black-necked stilt

I took this a few weeks ago near where I live. The sun already went below and the stilts were still feeding close to me. Comments are welcome.

I have never seen a juvi but now I know what I have been missing ... wonderful capture of a great looking bird!

Nice pose and head angle, excellent detail and lovely setting and BG.

Would like more room at the bottom for those very long virtual feet and that would likely call for more room all around to maintain a pleasing aspect ratio.

A juvie stilt is new for me as well. Thanks for posting this. I like everything about it. Image composition of stilts is always a dilemma: if you leave room for the virtual feet you make the bird smaller in the frame than you would like. I'm for allowing a little artistic license in the case of stilt shots (or at least this one), to enjoy the details of this beautiful bird.

I'm fine with the composition, with the reasoning Bill pointed out. Beautiful detail, lovely pose.

I find the dark area at the top is weighing down on the bird a little. My personal preference would be to lighten it a little and maybe bend the color to match the rest of the BG, which to me is a gorgeous, subtle color.

Great stuff. One bird I need to do before I die. Went all the way to France some years back and saw 2- 400 yards away. !
Lovely shot as is for me.
    Cheers

A good looking specimen too! The eye looks big! Sharp, well exposed, good low angle. I'd love more room top and right. Perhaps a dose of NR to the darker band above.

Nice colors and sharpness. Great LA view. Agree that perhaps more space needed but still a great image

Hi Lorant, lovely low perspective, well exposed, and love the hint of ripples in the water.
