Taken just after first light in the Timbavati Game Reserve, South Africa. The calf was cute and stopped to give us some attitude.

Lovely natural colour and your usual high IQ. The trunk up from the youngster makes the image more interesting. Thinking a tighter crop could work as I feel there is a lot of space on the left. Nice one!

Hi Rachel, love the light in this, even though it was very early. You have brought out the hides of both Ellie's very well, and both sharp too. Yep, the attitude of the youngster takes this up a notch. Im fine with the comp as is.

Thanks Dumay and Stu. I'm glad you like it. Dumay - I can crop tighter as an alternate comp. Just hesitant to do so at ISO 3200 and I tend to like negative space.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Love these little guys when they get like this. I to learn how to use the video area on my 7d sometime as I missed some amazing little ele antics recently in very early light. WD in dealing with the light here Rachel. Good definition in the textures too. WD

Hi Rachel very nice colors and tones reflecting the situation when the shot was taken , i guess.
I am fine with the crop as i know your tendencies , so will not make any suggestion .
The little guy and his behavior makes this image working nice.Nice textures in the subjects.

Hi Rachel, a fun encounter, but agree on going a wee bit tighter, you have good IQ so I doubt you will have issues. Love the 'bendy' trunk of the calf.

Thanks Carl, Andreas and Steve. I'll take a look at a tighter crop.

    Thanks again,

I like the way you have preserved the colours of early morning and not warmed it up. I too would crop tighter but only from the bottom, leaving your negative space on the LHS.
